All About Me

Stuart Hall's representation theory suggests that media itself has no meaning; it is meaningless by nature. However he later explains that the way the media is received gives it meaning, which also links to the semiotics theory, which demonstrates that images, words and symbols denote very basic things, but the connotations suggest far deeper meaning. This is relevant in my collage because I have represented myself through symbols and images that don't necessarily have meaning, but have all collected to one meaning: me (selfishly).

Hall's theory of reception suggests that my collage could be received in many ways; the way I intended for it to be received will most likely not be the way that the viewers of my college will receive it, and that's ok.
